Requesting Help - When Volunteers Arrive

The jurisdiction should implement the onboarding and daily procedures described in the Evaluation Deployment Playbook (see pages 6, 9 and 10 of the Playbook). This includes:

Onboarding:

  • Registering the WAsafe BSEs as Temporary Volunteer Emergency Workers.
  • Assigning a unique ID number to each WAsafe BSE for them to include on forms and placards.
  • Conducting the initial briefing.
  • Deputizing the WAsafe BSEs so they have the authority to post the jurisdiction’s placards.

Daily:

  • Checking in the WAsafe BSEs at the beginning of each day and checking them out at the end of the day.
  • Assigning the WAsafe BSEs to teams and giving them their evaluation assignments (areas of the jurisdiction or specific buildings to be evaluated).
  • Providing supplies (placards, forms, permanent markers, caution tape, etc.).
  • Conducting daily briefings, if applicable.
